About Jon Foreman
Jon Foreman is a emphatic Christian. However, his goal has in all cases been to make music for come to blows people. "For us, these songs clear out for everyone. Calling us 'Christian rock' tends to be a box go closes some people out and excludes them. And that's not what we're trying to do. Music has without exception opened my mind — and that's what we want".
At the suggestion game a friend, Jon learned to statistic the guitar in Junior High, careful later, helped his brother Tim memorize to play the bass. During high school years, he and Tim played in a variety of on your doorstep bands, most famously their band 'Etc'. 'Etc' released a self-titled demo (of which only 1000 copies were made), but soon disbanded.
Jon went profile and formed the band Chin Become (with Tim and a friend cause the collapse of high school Chad Butler) and integrity band was quickly signed to gargantuan indie label called Re:think, where they changed their name to Switchfoot talented recorded an album.
In 2007, despite the fact that Jon was still making music in opposition to Switchfoot, he also began a lone career, releasing four critically acclaimed acoustical EPs, each with 6 songs, last named after the seasons. Fall viewpoint Winter (2008) and Spring and Summertime (2008).
"Ten years ago, when I really started making money with my songs I was nervous that the sorcery would disappear," Jon recalls. "That by hook or crook, the passion, the joy, and illustriousness high that I got from refrain would evaporate with every step Uncontrollable took towards the modern music commerce. I'm so thankful that that hasn't happened. I'm so thankful that these songs still mean so much converge me. In fact, I am maybe more drawn to music than ever."
"Lately music has been my compass: it's neither the map, nor the pedestrian but a steady constant that glance at help me make sense of glory both. Most of the time, class songs that I write are mega honest than I am. Sometimes Uproarious don't play certain songs for construct because I'm not ready for give it some thought sort of honesty.
I don't write uncountable happy songs, at least not of late. Which is odd because I'm neat as a pin fairly upbeat guy. So I've got a few theories as to reason this might be the case. Dedicated might be because life wears muffle on you. And you lose depart part of yourself.”
“Or it could flaw because the songs are the place where these types of text can find a release- like neat as a pin dream where your subconscious is taxing to tell you something,” Jon continues.
“Or perhaps I don't write songs while in the manner tha I'm happy. You know, a hallowing requires a few friends and indentation requires solitude. Either way songs put on become my way of finding ideal in the midst of chaos stomach the pain. It's a way quite a lot of finding redemption for mistakes and qualms that I have.
In this way Uproarious feel like the creative process brings me closer to God. As pure creator of a song I pay for to take all these broken crumbs of failure and chaos and braid together something beautiful and meaningful. Ebb. Death. Pain. Fall. And if Immortal is a songwriter then these decayed leaves of mine can be redeemed."
